We admit it. We eat out a lot around here. And since we're so good at it, we'd like to share our favorite places to eat. These restaurants represent a true cross section of the Valley's culinary delights, we're sure you will find your new favorite!. The restaurants are listed by area. Be bold! Print the whole list, and eat your way from one end of the Valley to the other! Vail Village Sweet Basil, 193 E. Gore Creek Drive. 476-0125. A favorite of Jo Ellen, this is traditionally a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. Vendetta's, 291 Bridge Street. 476-5070. Overlooking Vail Mountain, Vendetta's is a kid friendly full-service restaurant with a pizza-to-go area just upstairs from the entrance and patio dining with round white tables and navy blue sun umbrellas. The ambiance is relaxed and casual. They serve Italian cuisine with veal, steak, chicken and seafood entrées. The wine list features domestic and imported selections. The bar also serves beers. They also offer take out and delivery. Wildflower, 174 Gore Creek Drive. 476-5011. Experience a rare epicurean treat at the Lodge at Vail. Enjoy a romantic dinner for two next to giant floral bouquets surrounded by snow or dine on the terrace alfresco with friends, amidst the fragrance of wildflowers and playful hummingbirds Bart & Yeti's, 551 E. Lionshead Circle. 476-2754. Lionshead Garfinkel's, 536 E. Lionshead Circle. 476-3789. Jay likes this place for the fun atmosphere, the spacious deck that overlooks the slopes, and great music that is not so loud that you can't talk. Try the Chicken Nachos, but be sure you have four hungry people! Kaltenberg Castle, 600 Lionshead Place. 479-1050. The Kaltenberg Castle Royal Bavarian Brewhouse is like a day at Oktoberfest within view of Vail Mountain. Although ornately designed in the likeness of renowned Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Kaltenberg Castle is suitable for the entire family. Serving traditional Bavarian German cuisine, with samplings of Austrian and American dishes, the festive dining experience is completed with live Bavarian music and microbrews. After eating lunch, après-ski or diner, interested visitors can tour the Royal Bavarian brewery. Montauk, 549 Lionshead Circle. 476-2601. Jo Ellen recommends this as the best seafood in the Valley! Uptown Grill, 472 E. Lionshead Circle. 476-2727. Jeanette likes this place for the great lunches and easy access to and from the slopes. Beaver Creek Beano's Cabin, 949-9090. Beaver Creek has a wonderfully memorable dining experience, a night at Beano's Cabin. Groups are bundled onto a 40-person sleigh and pulled up the mountain under the stars by a snow-cat. The cabin (a bit of a misnomer, since the building is fairly large) is upscale-rustic on the outside and elegant inside, with a roaring stone-hearth fire, log beams and well-prepared cuisine. The four-course meal concludes with remarkable desserts. The cost is per person, including the sleigh ride but not the wine, tax or gratuity. Bivans, 136 East Thomas Place. 949-1234. The family-friendly menu in the slopeside Bivans in the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek encourages sharing with a focus on informality. The Cafe, 136 East Thomas Place. 949-1234. The Cafe, also in the Park Hyatt, for baked goods, soups, salad bar and sandwiches. The Golden Eagle, 118 Beaver Creek Plaza. 949-1940. The Golden Eagle is a less costly, though not less exotic, place to dine. With entrées such as medallions of Australian kangaroo and roast loin of elk on the menu, guests can take a culinary world tour without leaving their seats. Decorations are Bavarian and desert Southwest, exactly the unlikely mix you'd expect from a restaurant that serves a blue corn elk quesadilla and other odd but tasty treats. Grouse Mountain Grill, 141 Scotthill Road. 949-0600. Adjacent to the Pines Lodge, the Grouse Mountain Grill serves Rocky Mountain cuisine, featuring such dishes as Colorado Lamb and pretzel-crusted pork chops. Mirabelle, 55 Village Road. 949-7728. The original Homestead at the base of Beaver Creek, a longtime local favorite at the bottom of the resort access road in an old farmhouse, serves well-prepared Belgian-influenced nouvelle cuisine. Saddle Ridge, 44 Meadow Lane. 845-5450. Decorated with impressive Western antiques and artifacts the likes of which might only be found in a museum, It's open for dinner with a game-dominated a la carte menu. After dessert take a look at the saddle with Buffalo Bill's sketch impressed into the leather. The image is his own handiwork. Splendido at the Chateau, 17 Chateau Lane. 845-8808. Another favorite of Jo Ellen. Splendido is very popular for locals, especially for special occasions. Many regulars come for the piano player, Taylor Kundolf, but chef David Walford has a huge following for his succulent game and international finesse with offerings such as roasted Maine sea scallops and fried sweetbreads. The wine cellar is vast. It's one of the most elegant yet accessible properties in Vail/Beaver Creek. The Swiss Stubli, 76 Avondale Lane. 748-8618. The Swiss Stubli in Beaver Creek Plaza's Poste Montane Building lives up to its name, "Swiss living room." Its comfortable, cozy atmosphere combined with the authenticity of genuine Swiss cuisine from native Swiss chefs is perfect for both an intimate dinner for two and group get-togethers. Owners Christel and Roby Kuster, who are also native Swiss, recommend either the wienerschnitzel, veal bratwurst or rostizza Lugano for lunch. Also try the veal Zurich-style for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended. Open in the winter season from 3-9:30 p.m. (unofficially 10 p.m.) and in the summer season from 11:30 a.m. Toscanini, Beaver Creek Village. 845-5590. In Market Square, follow your nose to Toscanini, a busy Italian restaurant overlooking the outdoor ice rink and featuring excellent seafood and pasta dishes. Special children's menu selections are available. Tramonti, At The Charter. 949-5552. Gretchen loves the Italian cuisine here, along with the great views of Beaver Creek and Strawberry Park. By Beaver Creek standards, Tramonti (949-5552, $$-$$$) is one of the more inexpensive places to eat, with meat entrées between $20 and $30, and pastas less than that. Located in the Charter at Beaver Creek Hotel, Tramonti serves pastas and risottos, and Northern Italian-prepared veal, steak, chicken and seafood. The restaurant is cozy, with upholstered highback chairs and white linen tablecloths. Reservations are advised. Vue, 136 East Thomas Place. 949-1234. Vue is a new exclusive gourmet restaurant in the Park Hyatt. With a European-trained executive chef and seating for just 36-and an incredible view of Beaver Creek village and the Black Family Ice Rink-this intimate French dining experience is ideal for romance. Zach's Cabin, Cabin Fever & Stirrup. 845-6575. Equally delightful is Zach's Cabin, a new addition to fine dining in Beaver Creek up on the mountain between Arrowhead and Bachelor Gulch Villages. Similar in concept to Beano's Cabin, this 13,000-square-foot cabin is nestled in a grove of aspen trees and guests arrive on a snowcat-drawn sleigh. Incredible views of the Gore Range, vaulted ceilings, and a large stone fireplace all help to make this the perfect setting for a delightful meal. The Cabin is open to the public for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights throughout the winter season, and is available for private functions throughout the year. Children's menu and pricing are available on the first of three nightly sleigh departures. Zach's Cabin is named for Zach Allen, father of Beaver Creek's first female resident, Allie Townsend (for whom Allie's Cabin is named). Zach, who served as a law enforcement officer in Colorado during the late 1800s, was killed in the line of duty. Avon Agave, 1060 W Beaver Creek Road. 748-8666. Avon Bakery & Deli, 0025 Hurd Lane. 949-4907. Starbucks Coffee, 0025 Hurd Lane. 748-1072. OK, it's technically not a restaurant, but you can't start your day without a hazelnut latte and a maple scone. As Jay says, "Without a stop at Starbucks, I have too much blood in my coffee stream." Bob's Place, 100 W Beaver Creek Boulevard. 949-9499. Eagle-Vail Paddy's Sports Bar and Grill, 40801 Hwy 6 and 24. 949-6093. A favorite of Brett Nash, Jo Ellen's six-year-old. Kid's games make this a great place to take your family and they don't get too antsy waiting for their food. Ristorante Ti Amo, 40982 Hwy. 6 and 24. 845-8153. Everyone likes the great Italian food at Ti Amo. And the atmosphere and personal touch from owners Massimo Perucchini and Steve Negler, make it very special. Brenner's Family Restaurant, 706 Castle Drive & Hwy 6. 328-7388. Edwards Fiestas Cafe and Cantina, Edwards Plaza. 926-2121. The entire Nash team loves this place! The Mexican cuisine is authentic, and the chips and salsa served before dinner are outstanding. We applaud the Marquez sisters for building such a successful business. Full Belly Saloon, 926-2756. Gore Range Brewery, Edwards Village Center. 926-2739. Nicole and Jerry both recommend this brew pub. Jeanette loves the Caesar salad and grilled chicken pizza, and Greg insists you try the beer pretzels at the bar while enjoying a microbrew. Grouse on the Green, 100 Kensington Drive. 926-5788. Juniper Restaurant, 97 Main Street. 926-7001. Main Street Grill (The Riverwalk) , 926-2729. Marko's Pizzeria, Edwards Plaza. 926-7003. Another of our favorite in Edwards, be sure to have a calzone with Canadian bacon and pineapple (trust us, it's great!) or one of their hand-tossed pizzas. Snag a seat at the bar and watch the pizzas being made! Minturn Chili Willy', 101 Main Street. 926-827-5887. Cordillera Timber Hearth Grille, 655 Clubhouse Drive. 926-5588. Jo Ellen loves the casual dining and atmosphere at this restaurant at the Club at Cordillera. In the winter, try a sleigh ride/dinner combo! Grouse on the Green , A lively Irish Pub atmosphere and spectacular views of the Divide create lsting memories. Try their fish tacos! Red Cliff Mango's Mountain Grill, 166 1/2 Eagle Street. 827-9109. Arrowhead The Bristol at Arrowhead, 676 Sawatch Drive. 926-2111.
